What Will Happen to Harlem Businesses?

Summary


There will be, of course, restaurants to replace [Copeland]'s. Of course, there will be clothing stores that will still sell clothes and luncheonettes, dives and some really elegant places opened between now and whenever but they will not be Copeland's or anything that resembles it. Most of all they will not be Mr. Copeland. He kept the business spirit, an entrepreneurial zeal, alive in Harlem for a long time. We are grateful to him for having done so and salute him as he decides what he will do next as an entrepreneur in Harlem. We admire him greatly and we hate ourselves for not having been more helpful to him, especially, when he needed us. For that we apologize and say we will have learned by next time, if ever there is a next time for Black businesses in Harlem.
