Two Classical Artists Make Their New York Debut

They are bass-baritone Dr. Alfred Barcliff and baritone Courtney Carey, both of whom will appear in Gian Carlo Menotti's opera "Amahl and the Night Visitors" with Opera Brooklyn at various Manhattan venues on December 6 at 7:30 p.m. and December 13 at 2 p.m.

The 10th anniversary of the Performer's Workshop on a recent Friday evening at Bahamas House in Harlem attracted a large and very enthusiastic authence. Its founding director, Dr. Mareda Gaither-Graves, invited several of the recent participants to perform favorite songs in the English language. The artists included Audrey Miller-Sydney, Cynthia E. Burke, Nicheli Taylor Bryant, Mary Lane Cobb, Johnny Geth and Naomi C. Dobson. The special guest, Metropolitan Opera soprano Osceola Davis, offered the aria "Ah! Non credea mariti" from Bellini's belcanto opera "La Sonnambula." The pianist was Jad Barnardo.

On Sunday, December 14 at 3 p.m., the soprano Gale BlacheGiIl, countertenor Brian Nesby and the Mark Howell Singers will offer a program of Christmas music under the title "God's Love Gift" at St. Charles Borromeo R. C. Church, 211 West 141st Street in Harlem.
