Obviously, that is good news for the Mets. The Mets have been able to hold on to first place in the National League East despite an anemic offense and a patchwork pitching staff that has been held together with shoe strings. Tuesday was a perfect example as Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez needed 130 pitches to get through six innings in the Mets' 5-4 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Hernandez wasn't at his best as he walked five and hit a batter.
