Thank You, Dr. Ben: We Love You

Summary

Dr. [Yosef Ben-Jochannan] suffered from the "The Harriet Tubman Syndrome," Dr. Jefferies joked. He said Dr. Ben's continuous trips to Egypt were driven by his attitude that he was going to free people of African ancestry, whether they wanted to be freed or not. All of which, Dr. Jefferies said, set Dr. Ben on a "historic course to restore ourselves."

"Restoring our beginnings has been one of the great work of Dr. Ben," said Dr. [Leonard Jeffries] who called Dr. Ben's scholarly work, research, lectures and writings on Egypt "intellectual warfare" in letting Black people of African descent know that "they are God's chosen."

"[Nafisa] does a lot of things," said Brenda Jackson, a friend of Nafisa who knew her for more than 25 years when they danced together. Nafisa, Jackson continued, "motivates people and uplifts people," but it was Rev. Nafisa who just wanted to honor Dr. Ben for uplifting her with the gala, whose theme was "Bridging the Past, Present and Future Through Love."

Sponsoring the event was Entering the Holy of Hohes, An Institute of Learning and Healing, Inc., (ETHOH) which is an organization that provides workshops on spiritual training, meditation, stress management and rites of passage programs for women, along with African dancing.
