I also learned a thing or two about the practice of law in New York. For years, since the 1840's, the apprenticeship program was the only route for Blacks to become practicing attorneys. Blacks had to work under white attorneys. This meant that Blacks, aspiring to practice law, had to show some "Calhoun," especially in New York. There is still zero tolerance for a competent, race-conscious Black lawyer.

If Blacks were thinking-and not scared-there would be a demand for dismissing the bogus indictment in People v. [Michael Oliver] et al. on April 12, 2007 during "Confederate Month" in New York. This is appropriate since New York was in the Democratic column during the Civil War and was aligned, economically and politically, with the Confederate States of America.
