Summary
The Slave 1 Theater, former- ly known as the Regent The- ater, has been a part of the Brooklyn community for two decades, since its opening in the early 1980s by Judge John L. Phillips, Jr. For years though, this landmark theater has been in danger of shutting down. But the Universal Hip- Hop Parade Foundation, Inc. is not standing for it. When the AmNews spoke exclusively with Mike Hollywood of Universal Hip-Hop Parade Management, he said, "We need to keep the Slave Theater out of the hands of people who don't want it."
Hollywood, along with his colleagues Chuck Onike and Soul Birch, said that they were and still are determined to bring as much awareness as possible to the community members of BedfordStuyvesant about the state of what they believe to be a historic building.See the full content of this document
