Summary
The NAACP was founded in February 1909, while The Amsterdam News began publishing in December of that year. James H. Anderson, founder of The Amsterdam News, started the weekly newspaper with an investment of just $10. The first issue was published from the apartment where Anderson lived on West 65th Street.
