Rally Against Continued Police Brutality

Summary


"[Police brutality] is continuing in every city and it has gotten worse in combating terrorism," said Kathy Lee of the October 22 Coalition. "What we 'do is bring out what they are doing, what's going on and bring it to people's attention. Our goal is really to raise people's awareness and we think that people should continue to figure out what it will really take to end police brutality."

"Police brutality is just out of hand, and it hasn't gotten any better after all of these years. We're out here to address the problems with police shootings, Tasering, and stop the surge of racial profiling," he said.

He said, "It's up to people to take it upon ourselves to say, This cannot be allowed to go down without opposition.' We have different fami· of people like clergy, revolutionaries and attorneys who have together today and said this must stop. This kind of brutality and murder is built into the fabric of this system. This is an injustice. It must be stopped and we're out here trying to build a movement to stop it."

A group of nearly 75 people, including parente and family members of victims who have been killed by New York police officers, gathered to share stories of their lost loved ones.
