New Program to Address Vital Health Care Needs

"Monroe's new degree program in public health is a welcome addition for us and other health institutions in New York and will help us recruit well-qualified professionals," said Dr. Gary Kalkut, MD, MPH, vice president and senior medical director at Montefiore Medical Center. "One of the growing needs within the Montefiore integrated delivery system is for health professionals with backgrounds in gerontology, HIV/AIDS counseling and drug abuse."

"We know that there are significant health care problems in many of the communities we serve," noted Ted Goldstein, dean of the Monroe bachelor's program. "With the public health program, we're not only addressing those issues, but we're furthering the latest theories that put the importance of education and prevention on a par with treatment."
