PP: The challenge is to be up to the task and also to recognize your place in this production. People come to see the "Phantom," Christine and Raoul, and we are perennial players. My role adds comedy and drama. I come in with respect for the piece and the mark that it has made in musical theater history. When I see my picture and name on the marquee, I am in awe and I say, "Thank you, God." So it's a matter of respect and doing the best I can do everyday that's of paramount importance to me.

PP: I was doing "La Boheme" on Broadway. My company manager was friends with the production supervisor at "Phantom." I ran into a girlfriend, and she said she was leaving the role of Carlotta. Everything just fell into place within a couple of weeks.
