Manhattan Borough President C. Virginia Fields recently joined representatives of several humanitarian agencies urging New Yorkers to donate to the relief effort. She urged New Yorkers to support tsunami victims in their time of need, comparing the assistance that New Yorkers received during the September 11th tragedy.
Faith-based agencies such as Episcopal Relief and Development are not only urging New Yorkers to make financial contributions, but to also learn as much as possible about what's going on in the Asian countries. Episcopal Relief and Development is working with affected dioceses in South Asia to provide emergency assistance such as food, potable water, and medicine. ERD will continue working with communities to assess ongoing needs and provide long-term development assistance following the disaster.
