Summary


[Marty Markowitz] told reporters that fighting to build and preserve affordable housing has always been his top priority. "Mitchell Lama tenants must be protected from buyouts," the borough president declared.

Markowitz said that Henry Street residents who are adversely affected by the recent landlord buyout are "some of the finest" in the Brooklyn Heights community.

The Middagh Street Studio Apartment at 20 Henry Street, which was formerly known as the "Candy Factory," is a commercial building that was converted to artist studios in 1975 under the Mitchell-Lama Program.
