But, as one African-American scholar advised, "This revolt is mainly of young Arabs in the northern part of Egypt, and we will have to wait to see what ramifications it will have for the peasants in the southern portion of the nation."

Mahmoud Ali Sabra, a former director for [Hosni Mubarak], said on Al Jazeera that [Barack Obama] should insist that Mubarak step down immediately, "otherwise there will be more bloodshed and possible creation of suicide bombers."

[...] the army has remained on the sidelines, though there are reported sounds of warning shots in the air, probably from soldiers or the police who stand in support of the Mubarak regime.
