"The expansion came out of our desire to have more space and more exhibitions for our school and family groups," said Martin Weis, the New York Hall of Science's Director of Science. "Museums have to expand in order to have more space so visitors can see what they have to offer," he added.
While the museum's previous installations were wonderful, the new two-story addition, which includes a library as well as a preschool place designed for children under three, places a premium on interactivity with large flat-panel screens serving up video explanations by the Hall's staff Kids can operate a faux Mars rover in the "Search for Life Beyond Mars" exhibit, which allows children to drive a rover just like the NASA scientists do.
