He was born in Podor, a lovely town in Senegal. Mr. Maal says this about the natural world, where he grew up before going away to college: "The environment in Africa is so beautiful. [ISABEL ALLENDE], a New York Times best-selling author, is a gifted storyteller who was born in Peru and raised in Chile, South America. She is the celebrated author of many well-known adult novels.
