The Invest in a Black Girl campaign was initiated as a viral email campaign that encourages like-minded women and men to do a few simple things that will make the difference in the life of a Black girl. Each member of the giving circle sent the e-mail message to their contacts in hopes of reaching 100,000 people. The campaign simply asks the reader to first, contact your daughter, niece, sister, cousin, neighbor or student and let her know that you love her and believe in her ability to excel, no matter the obstacles. Second, visit the BWBG website (www.blackwomenforblackgirls.org) to learn more about the historic research study "Black Girls in New York City: Untold Strength and Resilience" and begin implementing its recommendations. Third, forward the e-mail message to their contacts, asking them to Join In celebrating Black girls today. And fourth, make a donation at the BWBG website in support of Black girls and the Black Women for Black Girls 2010 fall symposium.
