Summary


The show includes such favorites as "You've Changed," "Strange Fruit," "Them There Eyes," "Foolin' Myself," "Deep Song," "Good Morning Heartache," "God Bless the Child," "Lover Man," "Don't Explain," Pig's Foot" and "Yesterdays."

The production features set design by Anthony Davidson, costume design by Ali Turns, lighting design by Shirley Prendergast and sound design by Sean CHollaron, along with casting by Lawrence Evans. Taking place in 1949, the play is about five Black prisoners who escape a Southern chain gang and seek refuge deep in the backwoods with a fiercely independent Black woman who offers them food, shelter and time to plan how to stay free, but suspicions, accusations and betrayal cause division among the men, threatening their freedom.
