Summary

"It's an opportunity to let the community know that they are our eyes and ears, and that we can't do it without them," Community Affairs Officer Dineen Halfkenny, an 18-year veteran of the 28th Precinct, said of National Night Out. "We are officers and are about business, but an event like this gives us an opportunity to show another side of who we are," she added.

"It's a great example of how a community can say that they have had enough of crime and say 'no,' they won't stand for it in their community," the new executive officer of the 28th Precinct, Capt. Alex Gesty, said of National Night Out. Also making an appearance in Harlem was PAL Chairman and Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau who said of the evening: "It is important for us to get out and show we are fighting crime, it's a collaborative effort between the police department, community and the district attorney. Everyone has to work together, no one can do it alone."
